Waltham City Clerk Russ Malone To Retire
The next question? Who will fill the spot?
WALTHAM, MA — After some 23 years as Waltham city clerk, Rosario"Russ" Malone said he plans to announce his retirement on Tuesday, Dec. 26, the last city council meeting of the year, the Waltham Cable Access channel reports. The planned announcement comes after a Malone took some time off for medical reasons.
Malone told the Waltham Channel he was planning to make his announcement at the next city council meeting and that his paperwork is now lined up for retirement.
At the end of 2016, Joe Vizard stepped down from the city council to take over as assistant city after Tom Curtin passed away.

Outgoing Ward 5 councilor Gary Marchese told Patch he's interested in the city clerk’s job and stepped away from the city council earlier this year with an eye on the position. Former Ward 1 city councilor Bob Kelly has said he, too, is interested.
The City Clerk, is also Clerk of the City Council and Chairman of the Board of Registrars of Voters. Among his responsibilities are the overseeing of the elections and keeping of official records for the City of Waltham.
The City Clerk is the official keeper of the City Seal and maintains general Ordinances and Zoning Ordinances as enacted by the City Council, according to the city website.
