Waltham Officer Appointed to MassDOT Board of Directors
Gov. Charlie Baker announced the appointment of Det. Sgt. Tim King Tuesday.

WALTHAM, MA – A Waltham police officer is the newest member of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation Board of Directors, continuing a storied career in law enforcement and public safety.
Gov. Charlie Baker announced the appointment of Det. Sgt. Tim King Tuesday. King also serves as president of the Massachusetts Police Association.
"Detective Sergeant Tim King has devoted much of his career to protecting his neighbors in Waltham and serving his colleagues in blue across the Commonwealth," Gov. Baker said in a formal statement. "We welcome that service and devotion to the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation as they continue their important work in providing the oversight and direction necessary to advance our transit system across all modes."

King takes over the seat vacated by Russell Gittlen, the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers New England Area Director and Assistant Business Manager for Local 447.
King, a graduate of Waltham High School, joined the Waltham Police Department in 1992 as a patrol officer and was previously a corrections officer for the Massachusetts Department of Corrections.

During his tenure in Waltham, he has been a member of the Curriculum Advisory Board of Middlesex Community College; the Massachusetts Police Training Committee Board; the Massachusetts Coalition of Police Executive Board, and the Massachusetts Transportation Working Group, as well as serving as Vice President of the Greater Boston Labor Council.
Since 2007, King has been the Attorney/General Counsel for the Massachusetts Coalition of Police.
"I am pleased to welcome Tim King to the Board and look forward to tapping into his broad experience in law enforcement as the Board continues to meet the challenge of delivering safe and efficient transportation services across the Commonwealth," MassDOT Secretary and CEO Stephanie Pollack said in a statement. "We likewise appreciate Mr. Gittlen’s service to the Board and Commonwealth over the last year and wish him well in his future endeavors."
