Western Greenway 5K Great Way to Help Trails
Sign up today to be part of a trail run/walk that benefits open spaces and community trails in our area!

The Waltham Land Trust (WLT) encourages supporters of open space, community trails, and the environment in general to participate in the Western Greenway 5K Tail Run/Walk on Sunday, October 1st. The sixth annual Race for Open Space fundraiser starts at noon at the Elsie Turner Field, taking walkers and runners on a figure eight pattern through Beaver Brook North Reservation and Rock Meadow on the Western Greenway Trail, a path the WLT has been building for years through forests and meadows and alongside ponds and wetlands in North Waltham, Belmont, and Lexington.
The fee to walk or run the course is $25, $15 for kids ages 17-7 ($5 more after September 29). Timed winners in various age categories will be able to select their prizes, with leftovers being given away to lucky bib numbers so that anyone who picks up a bib can be a winner. Bertucci’s is again donating pizza and rolls for when folks cross the finish line.
Consider registering for the event, even if you can’t attend, to help the WLT reach its fundraising goal. All proceeds go to a good cause, saving open spaces in Waltham while building (and maintaining) community paths like the Western Greenway trail.
