Mini Bookstore At Wayland Bagel Table Supports High Schoolers
The pop-up bookstore is the only one in Wayland, and the only one whose proceeds go to a local robotics team.

WAYLAND, MA — A Wayland bagel shop and Wayland high school students have teamed up to open the only bookstore in town.
Last week, the Wayland High School robotics team — the Control Freaks — helped open a pop-up book section inside the Bagel Table at the Town Center. The mini store has a selection of New York Times bestsellers, children's books, cookbooks and an assortment of other soft and hardcover titles curated by the robotics team.
For every book sold, the Control Freaks will get a share of the profit, according to Wayland Economic Development Committee Rebecca Stanizzi, whose son is a member of the team.

"Stop by early to get the best picks of the day, and stop by often to see what’s new. And while you’re there, you can learn a bit about the profiled Wayland school group, fun facts are posted," she said.
Starting in the new year, the team will begin designing robots to enter into a national student robot competition. The team went to Houston last spring to compete and made it to the national round.

The pop-up bookshop at Bagel Table will remain after the holiday season, with new school groups benefiting from the partnership in the future, according to Stanizzi.
