A nearly $10,000 grant will fund new technology, multilingual website translations, and added cold storage so volunteers can serve more local families efficiently and offer more fresh, perishable foods.

Residents, experts, and town officials explain how these walls shaped farming, influence suburban development, and now serve as wildlife habitat and outdoor "antiques" that keep Wayland's rural character alive.
   

• The next Quabbin fight is already here (commonwealthbeacon.org) — Wayland is specifically named as one of the next communities that could join the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority system, as the agency seeks approval to draw significantly more water from the Quabbin Reservoir. The proposal has sparked strong pushback from Quabbin-area legislators and towns, who argue the plan sidesteps key environmental safeguards and fairness concerns, potentially affecting how much water Wayland and other eastern communities can access in the future.
