The hills are alive! Join us for WTP’s very first all-ages community production of one of the most beloved musicals of all time, The Sound of Music! Performances will be held July 16th-18th, 30th, 31st, and August 1st at 7:30pm, at the Sorenson Center for the Arts at Babson College (219 Babson College Drive, Wellesley, MA 02481).
Tickets are $30 for adults and $15 for students and seniors when purchased in advance at www.wellesleytheatreproject.org, or $35 for adults and $20 for students and seniors at the door.
Featuring a trove of cherished songs, including “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” “My Favorite Things,” “Do-Re-Mi,” “Sixteen Going on Seventeen” and the title number, The Sound of Music has won the hearts of audiences worldwide, earning five Tony Awards and five Oscars. The inspirational story, based on the memoir of Maria Augusta Trapp, follows an ebullient postulate who serves as governess to the seven children of the imperious Captain von Trapp, bringing music and joy to the household. But as the forces of Nazism take hold of Austria, Maria and the entire von Trapp family must make a moral decision.
Wellesley Theatre Project is proud to present The Sound of Music through special arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of the Rogers and Hammerstein Organization. As WTP’s inagural community production, the show features an all-ages cast of 45 performers from Wellesley and neighboring towns.
The production team includes: Chris Cavallo, Director; David Wright, Music Director; Katelyn Geary, Associate MD/Conductor; Erica Lundin, Choreographer; Ben Rush, Scenic & Co-Lighting Design; Tyler John, Prop & Co-Lighting Design; Justyn Ferguson, Sound Design/Engineer; Ken Rush, Wardrobe Supervisor; Cara Guappone, Hair & Wig Design; Nadine Sa, Stage Manager; Naomi Goldman, Assistant Stage Manager; and Lucy Feldman, Run Crew.
The Sound of Music features Music by Richard Rogers, Lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, and a Book by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse.
Make it a double feature! On July 16th, 17th, and 18th at 5pm and July 18th at 2pm, join us for WTP’s first session of Rogers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, Youth Edition. On July 30th, 31st, and August 1st at 5pm and August 1st at 2pm, join us for WTP’s second session of Shrek, the Musical KIDS! Performances will also be at The Babson College Sorenson Center for the Arts. We hope you’ll join us for our exiting summer!
