According to a press statement released by Chief Alan Gordon, David Bradford, 37, of 39B Second St. in Framingham, was taken into custody. He was arrested on a warrant issued from the and charged with larceny from a person 65 years or older and larceny under $250 by false pretense.

Detectives believe that on Tuesday, Feb. 28, just before noon, Bradford went to the on West Main Street and asked for money. He said he needed to provide for his five children. The pastor of the church gave Bradford a $100 gift card.
Bradford is believed to have then approached a woman at the on West Main Street with a similar story. When the woman went to get the minister, she returned to find both the man and her purse gone. A short time later, the man tried to use a credit card stolen from the purse at a Framingham Stop and Shop.

On Thursday, March 1, police circulated which show the suspect attempting to use the stolen credit card.
According to the press release, Bradford “was positively identified by the victim along with many people calling the police department with his identity.” He is being held at the Westborough Police Station on $500 cash bail.
