Susan G. Komen Southern New England Seeking Runners for Their 2017 Boston Marathon Team

Susan G. Komen Southern New England is accepting applications for runners to be a part of their Boston Marathon team.

(WESTBOROUGH, MA) November 2, 2016 – Susan G. Komen® Southern New England is now accepting applications for The Boston Athletic Association’s (B.A.A.) 121st Boston Marathon, which will be held on April 17, 2017. With the support of John Hancock Financial, the non-profit organization is looking to build a team of individuals that not only love to run but are also passionate about raising funds for breast cancer awareness, research, and local program support.

Each year John Hancock donates guaranteed entries to select nonprofits, which use these entries to recruit individual runners to raise money for their cause. Last year, John Hancock nonprofit runners raised more than $11 million for over 140 different local organizations. For over 30 years, John Hancock has been the principal sponsor of the Boston Marathon®. The Company’s continued support of the Boston Athletic Association, which has directed the race since 1897, ensures that the race will continue to be a world‐class event and an important facet of Boston’s culture and heritage.

Applications should be submitted by November 16, 2016, and all runners will be notified on November 22, 2016. The minimum fundraising requirement is $5,000. For more details and to access the application, visit http://komensouthernnewengland.org/boston-marathon/
