Blown Fuse Causes Power Outage on Mill Street

About 44 residents lost power for an hour Wednesday.

Several dozen Westwood residents were without power for a brief period on Wednesday afternoon after a transformer fuse blew on Mill Street.

About 44 residents lost power at around 1 p.m. after a tree limb came in contact with wires in the area, causing a fuse to blow, said NSTAR Spokesperson Mike Durand.

NSTAR line workers were sent to the scene and all customers received power as of 2 p.m., said Durand, who added that occasionally customers can mistake a blown fuse for a transformer problem, as blown fuses can create a loud noise.
