Car Thieves Strike Willard Circle, Pine Lane Neighborhoods

Willard Circle and Pine Lane residents hit by series of vehicle break-ins car theft.

Several vehicles in Westwood's Willard Circle and Pine Lane neighborhoods were recently broken into, with at least one of those vehicles being stolen, according to police reports.

During the overnight hours of Thursday, June 24 into Friday, June 25, at least seven vehicles parked predominantly in the Willard Circle neighborhood had been entered, Westwood Police said, and several items were taken from within the vehicles. In each instance the vehicles were unlocked and had been parked in a driveway or on the street in front of a home.

Items that were taken from the vehicles include radar detectors, iPods, GPS units, DVD players and loose change.

Adding to that, a vehicle that had been parked with the keys inside was stolen from the driveway of a Willard Circle residence around 8:30 a.m. on Friday, June 25. The vehicle, a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer, was later found on Sprague Street in Dedham.

Westwood Police Detective Paul Toland said a similar series of incidents took place last summer in the same area. The matter is still under investigation.

Toland added that residents should remember to not leave their personal belongings in their vehicles, and to lock their cars whenever unattended.
