Westwood Police Log: Suspicious Activity on Dartmouth, High Streets

Police responded to vehicle damage on Dartmouth Street, while confiscating drugs and alcohol on High Street.

July 14, 8:58 a.m. Westwood Police responded to 26 Dartmouth St., where the employee of a local business reported vandalism to a car parked in a nearby lot.

A male in a blue minivan was spotted attempting to kick in the side window of a parked car in the lot, according to reports. By the time police arrived at the scene, the van was gone. Police secured the area, but the window to the vehicle – a 2005 Jeep – sustained considerable damage, police said. There was no indication the vehicle had been entered.

July 14, 10:42 p.m. – While on patrol on High Street, Westwood Police pulled into the parking lot of the Bubbling Brook restaurant to find a white Lincoln SUV parked near the side of the building.

As police neared the vehicle, two males, aged 19 years, were spotted inside. One of the males appeared to be concentrating on something in his hands, and police subsequently found a can of beer in the car, along with cardboard consistent to the packaging of beer.

Officers were able to retrieve alcohol from the vehicle, which included the beer and a partially-full bottle of vodka. Police also discovered a small quantity of marijuana in the car, which they also confiscated.

The parents of both males were contacted, and responded to the scene to retrieve the two parties.
