Westwood Softball Shuts Out Needham, 17-0

In the opening game of the 2011 season, the team left the field with a shut-out victory of 17-0 over Needham on Wednesday. 

Coaches Jonas Sherr and Cory Rocha, with the leadership of the two senior captains Leigha Valentine and Rachel Masotta, led the team to a shutout score.  

Freshman EB Messenio pitched a strong game with Junior Emileigh Rau catching behind the plate.

Other players who helped the team reach the victory include senior Amanda Dilulis, as well as juniors Molly O'Brien, Alanna Piccirlli, Sheila O'Sullivan, and Keira Travers; sophomores Kristina Barounis, Brittany Dwan, Samantha Diehl, and Elizabeth Loftus; and freshman Joanne O'Sullivan.
