Everyone Into The Wilmington Selectmen's Race

Nine candidates are competing for three open selectmen's seats in the Wilmington town election on April 27th.

WILMINGTON, MA -- Two incumbents and four challengers are on the ballot for the two selectmen's seats up for reelection in Wilmington's town election on April 27. Meanwhile, three candidates are running to fill the year remaining in the term of Ed Loud, who stepped down last month to take a job in Maryland.

Nomination papers were due on Friday, and when they were certified, the stage was set for one of the busiest Wilmington elections in recent memory. In the six-way race for two selectmen's seats, incumbents Greg Bendel and Kevin Caira are being challenged by Robert Fasulo Jr., Mark Maselli, Daniel Murphy and Suzanne Sullivan.

Kevin MacDonald, Daryn Marsh and Jomarie O’Mahony are running in the three-way race for Loud's seat.

The school committee race is decidedly less crowded. Incumbents Julie Broussard and Tom Talbot are not seeking reelection, meaning Jesse Fennelly, Jay Samaha and incumbent Jo Newhouse are running unopposed for the three seats up for reelection. Shawsheen Tech School Committee incumbent Robert Peterson Sr. is also running unopposed for reelection.

The deadline to register to vote in the April 27 election is April 8. The Town Clerk's office will be open for extended hours from 8:30 am to 8 pm on that day.
