Was Winchester High School's Principal Forced Out?

"He wishes to stay on as principal of the high school," one Winchester parent close to Sean Kiley said.

Winchester Superintendent of Schools, Judith Evans, announced Wednesday that Sean Kiley had resigned from his position as high school principal. The news came as a shock to community members and now, many are questioning whether Kiley resigned or if he was forced to step down.

Evans informed high school students and parents in an email, saying “Sean Kiley, who has served for the past year as principal of Winchester High School, has given notice of his resignation from this position. We thank Mr. Kiley for his service to our students and families and wish him well in future endeavors.”

The news just doesn’t make sense. Kiley was well-liked among the high school community. He had only held the position for one year. After learning of the news, residents started an online petition, demanding Kiley be reinstated as principal.

Kiley left a position as principal in New Hampshire to take over as Winchester headmaster in July of 2014.

“To say that this was an amazing man is an understatement,” another parent said of Kiley.

In wake of the news, Kiley has still remained active on his principal’s blog.
