John F. X. 'Jack' Goodwin, 84, of Woburn
John was a resident of Woburn for over 30 years and enlisted in the United States Navy.

WOBURN, MA — John F. X. "Jack" Goodwin passed away at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House, Wednesday, July 25th at the age of eighty four. The beloved husband of Joyce May (Huber) Goodwin, he was eighty four years of age.
Born in Newport, Rhode Island Jack was the son of the late John J. and Anna (O'Hara) Goodwin. He attend school there and at the age of fourteen the family moved to Brookline, where Jack graduated from Brookline High School, Class of 1949. Following high school Jack worked briefly at John Hancock and then enlisted in the United States Navy. While at John Hancock he was introduced to Joyce Huber, whom he married in 1952 and they have shared sixty four years together, and brought three children into the family. While they were first married they lived in Bath, Maine for several years then to Woburn for thirty years. Jack had secured himself a position at Lincoln Labs, where he remained, for over thirty years.

Hyannis, in particular Covelle Beach, was the destination for the summer where the family would spend lots of time. While in Hyannis it was to the beach in the morning, home for lunch then to Lake Wequaquet was the routine over the years. Road trips to Florida, Washington D.C. and many other places of interest, was always an unexpected treat and always full of fun. Sunday was always a very special day in the
Goodwin household. Throughout the years every Sunday , it was off to the Red Coach Grille for dinner, which was always a wonderful treat.

Jack also was quite the sports fan, enjoying both Red Sox and Bruins sharing his season tickets with family and friends throughout the years. Jack was always a fun, friendly laid back person who had a great interest in people and enjoyed striking up a conversation, no matter where he was.
A very faith filled man, Jack's love for his family was always first and foremost.
In addition to his wife Joyce of sixty four years, Jack is lovingly survived by his children Jan E. Myers, her husband Gary, Steven W. Goodwin, his wife Leigh-Ann and the late Amy F. Goodwin. Dear brother of Bernard Goodwin, his wife Judith of Southborough, Ann Foley, her husband Henry of Norwood and the late Robert "Inky" Goodwin. Loving grandfather of Justin Goodwin of Braintree, Haylee and Cole. Also survived by his dear daughter-in-law Christine Goodwin, sister-in-law Barbara Underwood, her late husband Robert of Arlington and loving nieces and nephews, Robert Underwood of Dorchester, Erich Underwood of Arlington, Judy Lapides, her husband Rob, Lee Race, her husband Tim, John Foley, his wife Wendy, Tom Foley, and his wife Tracy.
A Funeral Mass will be held in St. Barbara's Church, 138 Cambridge Rd., Woburn, Thursday, July 28 at 12 p.m. Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. Relatives and friends are invited to Calling hours at the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main St., Woburn on Wednesday from 3-7 p.m. Remembrances may be made in John's memory to Camp Allen, 56 Camp Allen Road, Bedford, NH 03110.
