UPDATE: Woburn Storm Central: Snowtober Hits City

Nearly 10 percent of the city is without power after Saturday storm, says NStar.

While it's not a blizzard, this "Snowtober" storm is worthy of a Woburn Patch Storm Central!

Many Woburnites are still reporting problems with power this afternoon: 

  • Park Drive Extension has been without power since 9 p.m. Saturday. (Thank you Barbara and Dave!)
  • Five houses on Main Street in North Woburn still without power. Elizabeth Black says a recording is picking up at the NStar residential phone line. (Thank you, Liz!)
  • Brentwood Road (between Main Street and Forest Park Road) has been without power since 10 p.m. last night. (Thank you, Catherine!) 
  • Briarwood Road lost power Sunday afternoon (again.) (Thank you, Daniela!)
  • Murray Road just lost power again this afternoon. (Thank you, Chris Spinale!)
  • Kilby Street is without power again Sunday. (Thank you, Athena Ortiz!)
  • Wyman Street had a respite from the outage after 10:30 a.m. this morning, but has since lost power. (Thank you, @fenwayhotspur on Twitter!)
  • The neighborhood by the Joyce Middle School is again without power. (Thank you, @Maura1362 on Twitter!)
  • Brae Circle off of Wyman is also without power now. (Thank you @Linda_Naz on Twitter!)

Many residents report power has been restored, including JohnPStyles on Twitter who is off of Webster and has both electricity and cable back.

According to NStar, the electric company is reporting that 8.2 percent of its Woburn customers—1630 homes—are without power as of 3:15 p.m. Sunday.

NStar is "assessing damage" in Woburn, according to its website.

Over 111,000 NStar customers across the state are without power after the Saturday night storm.

"Due to downed trees and the severe damage experienced on our system, we're anticipating our clean-up and power restoration work to be a multi-day effort," said NStar officials in a statement Sunday.

Customers can report an outage on the NStar site or call the company at at 800-592-2000.

Saturday, 10:45 p.m.—

Reports of a fallen pole transformer now on fire at Mishawum Road and Pine Grove Avenue. Woburn Fire and NStar on scene. (Thank you to our very own Rick Nohl for this update!)

The Massachusetts State Police are reporting "numerous spinouts and crashes, no serious injuries reported."
