Woburn's Makeover Plan For Former Industrial Site Goes In New Direction: Report
A developer wants to build more residential units at the former site of Kraft Foods.

WOBURN, MA ā Plans for a massive mixed-use complex at a former site of Kraft Foods appear to have gone in a different direction, although city officials may not be keen on the idea.
A developer, Leggat McCall Properties, wants to scrap proposed blueprints for lab and commercial space and instead build more residential units here, according to the Boston Business Journal.
Originally, the 107-acre redevelopment in East Woburn was to include accommodations for research, retail, manufacturing, homes and other uses.

The Vale, as it was to be dubbed, would cover 900,000 square feet in several buildings off Montvale Avenue, near Interstate 93. The site was formerly the home of Kraft's Atlantic Gelatins division, which closed in 2015.
Now Leggat McCall says it wants to use more of the property for multifamily units.

The new plan could include the addition of more than 500 homes and requires a zoning amendment. Woburnās city council president, Robert Toro, said he wouldnāt support that change.
