WORCESTER, MA — All nine of Massachusetts seats in the U.S. House of Representatives will stay in Democratic control after Nov. 3, even after seven seats were challenged by Republicans.

U.S. Reps. Ayanna Pressley, Seth Moulton, Jim McGovern, Katherine Clark, Bill Keating and Stephen Lynch won their reelection bids on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Newton Councilor Jake Auchincloss won the open race for outgoing U.S. Rep. Joe Kennedy III's House seat.

"I’m so grateful that the voters of #MA04 have chosen me as their next Congressman," Auchincloss tweeted. "I promise that I will be a representative for the entire district, that I will always listen, and that together, we will work to rebuild this nation."

Auchincloss' race was the closest of the lot, although he beat Republican Julie Hall by more than 20 points. Pressley and Lynch cruised to victor with more than 80 percent of the vote in each of their districts.

U.S. Reps. Lori Trahan and Richard Neal were also up for election, but did not face challengers in this election.

Clark thanked supporters, and highlighted the coronavirus crisis as one of the biggest threats facing state residents. She said her "number one priority" will be working on a national strategy to fight the virus and stabilize the economy.

"There is much work to be done," Clark said in a statement. "The COVID-19 pandemic has shaken our community and our economy to their core. Americans are sick and suffering, and have waited too long for relief and real, science-based solutions to this crippling public health crisis."

McGovern, who spent Election Day visiting communities like Northampton, Worcester and Uxbridge, also highlighted fighting coronavirus as a priority — and that voters were electing to "bring some goodness and decency back to the heart and soul of our great country."

"Today, the people of the Second District spoke loud and clear. They went to the ballot box in record numbers to vote for their beliefs, their conscience, and their future. I’m honored and grateful they voted to send me back to Congress to keep fighting for them.
