Lake Quinsigamond, Indian Lake Water Levels Are Rising
Here's when the refills for both lakes are expected to be complete.
WORCESTER, MA — Two large bodies of water in the city are expected to be completely refilled by next week.
Indian Lake and Lake Quinsigamond water levels will return to normal after the winter drawdown, according to the city's Department of Sustainability and Resilience. The refill will be complete around Wednesday, Apr. 1.
Water levels in both lakes will increase by 2 to 3 inches per day until they reach normal.

The drawdown at Indian Lake is administered by the City of Worcester, and the drawdown at Lake Quinsigamond is administered by the Lake Quinsigamond Commission.
Water-level drawdowns are a lake management practice intended to reduce the density of invasive and nuisance aquatic plants by exposing them to winter conditions.

The city said this process is approved by the Conservation Commissions in Worcester, Grafton, and Shrewsbury and the Mass. Department of Environmental Protection.
The exposed lake and bottom are protected under the Wetlands Protection Act, and filling and dredging are prohibited.
Plus, homeowners should keep a close eye on docks and shoreline structures, as moving or flowing ice can cause damage during the transition.
Residents should use caution around the lake until the water levels return to normal.
