Open Sky Appoints New Director Of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging
The Worcester-based nonprofit provides a wide range of services for children, adults and families.

WORCESTER, MA — A Worcester nonprofit has named a new leader to guide its inclusivity-focused team.
Levi Ekstrom will take the helm as Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging at Open Sky Community Services, the organization announced on Wednesday. The Worcester-based nonprofit behavioral health and human services organization provides a wide range of services for children, adults, and families with mental health challenges, intellectual and developmental disabilities, substance use disorders, brain injury, and homelessness.
Ekstrom served as DEIB manager before the appointment. In that role, he ensured policies, procedures, and guidelines were aligned with the organization's values and commitments. He also organized events, trainings, and manages all communications.

A Northbridge native, Ekstrom earned a bachelor's degree from Westfield State University. Before joining Open Sky, he worked at another human services organization in Central Massachusetts and served as a Men4Choice Youth Fellow.

The role is intended to enrich the organization's culture of acceptance by leveraging the diverse backgrounds and perspectives of its employees. As a director, Ekstrom will help initiatives and partner with other leaders to ensure best practices and strategies to advance diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.
