WORCESTER, MA — Welcome to a particularly treacherous October Friday.

An odd snowstorm hovered over the region all day Friday, creating interesting photo opportunities, and causing multiple serious collisions in the area as the snow piled up.

Friday's storm came courtesy of dwindling Hurricane Zeta, which forced winds to shift from the south to the north, sucking in cold air and turning rain into snow. The National Weather Service reported a measurement of 3-1/2 inches at a station in Boston, and one weather-spotter measured more than 5 inches in Fitchburg.
