2 Hikers Rescued From Northern MI Wilderness: Sheriff

The hikers were extremely cold and wet, but declined medical treatment​, according to officials.

MARQUETTE COUNTY, MI — Two hikers were rescued from a northern Michigan wilderness over the weekend, according to officials.

The two hikers were overdue at 7:10 p.m. Saturday after hiking along the North Country Trail in the McCormick Wilderness area in Michigamme Township, according to the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office.

The last known location of the two hikers was south of Lake Raymond within the McCormick Wilderness area, according to officials.

Rescue crews searched along the North Country Trail and surrounding roads in the area and eventually found the hikers a few miles from their last known location several hours later at 2:40 a.m. Sunday, according to officials.

The crews then took the hikers out of the woods, according to officials.
