Here Are Michigan's Top 20 Public Golf Courses For 2023: New Ranking
A few Upper Peninsula courses made the list while just one course from metro Detroit made the cut.
MICHIGAN — Michigan's best public golf courses were revealed in a new 2023 Golfweek ranking.
A few Upper Peninsula courses made the list while just one course from metro Detroit earned a spot in the top 20.
Golfweek's list was judged by a nationwide network of raters, who evaluate the courses and rate them based on 10 criteria.

Here are Golfweek's top 20 Michigan courses to play in 2023:
- Arcadia Bluffs (Bluffs Course), Arcadia
- Marquette GC (Greywalls), Marquette
- Forest Dunes (The Loop Red & Black), Roscommon
- Forest Dunes (Forest Dunes course), Roscommon
- Arcadia Bluffs (South Course), Arcadia
- Belvedere, Charlevois
- Boyne Bay Harbor (Links/Quarry), Petoskey
- Gull Lake View Resort (Stoatin Brae), Augusta
- Eagle Eye, Bath Twp.
- Pilgrim's Run, Pierson
- (T10) Island Resort and Casino (Sweetgrass), Harris
- Harbor Shores, Benton Harbor
- American Dunes, Grand Haven
- University of Michigan GC, Ann Arbor
- Hidden River Golf & Casting Club, Brutus
- Boyne Highlands (Arthur Hills), Harbor Springs
- Treetops (Signature), Gaylord
- Diamond Springs, Hamilton
- Sage Run, Bark River
- Pine Mountain Resort (Timber Stone), Iron Mountain
A few changes from last year's list includes the Arcadia Bluffs South Course moving into the top 5, and Belvedere moving up two spots from No. 8 to No. 6. On the other hand, the UM course moved down two spots from No. 12 to No. 14, and Orchards in Washington Township missed the cut after it was ranked No. 17 last year.
