TEAM SCHOSTAK FAMILY RESTAURANTS TO HOST MICHIGAN AUTHOR FOR NATIONAL READING MONTH FUNDRAISER

March 5 event to include Dine to Donate fundraiser benefiting Detroit Public Schools Reading Corps

Livonia, Mich.-based TEAM Schostak Family Restaurants (TSFR), a family-owned restaurant group with an expansive portfolio of casual dining, quick-service and family dining restaurants throughout the state of Michigan, will host Michigan Children’s Author Marney Studaker-Cordner from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 5 as part of the Detroit Applebee’s special Dine to Donate event in honor of National Reading Month. A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Detroit Public Schools (DPS) Reading Corps and early childhood literacy.
Taking place from 11 a.m.- 8 p.m. at the Detroit Applebee’s, located at 2111 W. 8 Mile Road, families are invited to join TSFR and its Applebee’s team for a Dine to Donate event benefiting early childhood literacy and DPS Reading Corps, a volunteer-based organization that aims to help young learners with reading and increase testing scores throughout the Detroit schools. In addition to donating 10 percent of all food sales to the DPS Reading Corps, the Dine to Donate event will include a special reading of Daisy: The True Story of an Amazing 3 Legged Chinchilla by the book’s co-author, Marney Studaker Cordner. A Michigan children’s author, Studaker-Cordner and Kimberly Abraham co-wrote the book as a creative way to teach children the value of understanding, accepting and celebrating the differences that make each individual unique.
“As a local company leading the way in the communities we serve, TEAM Schostak Family Restaurants is always looking for new ways to connect with the local community and offer our support,” said TSFR Marketing Director Barb Pasciak. “With March being National Reading Month, we are proud to partner with Marney and the DPS Reading Corps to ensure youths throughout Detroit receive the support needed to improve their literacy, setting a strong foundation for success in the future.”
