The boys varsity basketball district tournament kicks off this week, with , and Brother Rice high schools competing in the same Class A bracket.
Meanwhile, Detroit Country Day was the only Birmingham area girls basketball team to make it out of districts last week. Country Day will face off against Harper Woods-Chandler Park Academy on Tuesday in regionals.

In hockey, the Brother Rice and Detroit Country Day teams begin quarterfinals this week. 4-1 Saturday while on Saturday 2-1, advancing both of them to the regional tournament. Meanwhile, the Birmingham Unified team was ousted from the tournament after a 4-2 loss Saturday to St. Clair Shores.

- Groves plays Southfield-Lathrup in boys basketball at 7 p.m. Monday at Groves High School.
- Detroit Country Day plays Lahser in boys basketball at 6 p.m. Monday at Detroit Country Day.
- Detroit Country Day girls basketball competes in regionals against Harper Woods-Chandler Park Academy at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Clawson.
- Brother Rice varsity hockey plays Waterford-Mott in the state quarterfinals Tuesday at the Novi Ice Arena (time still to be determined).
- Detroit Country Day varsity hockey plays Cranbrook in state quarterfinals Wednesday at the Polar Palace in Goodrich (time to be determined).
- Brother Rice and Seaholm boys basketball have a bye tonight, but will play at 5:30 p.m. (Brother Rice) and 7 p.m. (Seaholm) Wednesday at Groves High School.
