Off-Duty Police Officer Charged in Alleged Road Rage
A Detroit officer who allegedly displayed a firearm at another motorist in Birmingham last week was arraigned on felony assault charges.

An off-duty Detroit police officer was arraigned Friday on two counts of felonious assault and an alternate charge of brandishing a firearm after he allegedly displayed a gun at another motorist in Birmingham on Oct. 3.
Oscar Joseph Woodcum, 43, of Wixom entered a not-guilty plea and was released after he posted a $20,000 cash surety/10 percent bond, according to a news release form the Birmingham Police Department.
Police Commander Terry Kiernan said Woodcum and another motorist were both southbound on Woodward Avenue when Woodcum reportedly cut off another driver at the intersection with Maple Avenue about 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3.

Both vehicles continued southbound and the other driver, a 53-year-old Beverly Hills man, told police Woodcum was driving erratically. When the two vehicles were side-by-side, Woodcum allegedly rolled down his window and laid a .40-caliber Glock handgun across his chest.
The couple dialed 911.

Woodcum was eventually stopped by Royal Oak police, who described him as cooperative.
His pretrial conference is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, in 48th District Court.
