Micaela Ellis, (girls basketball): Ferndale’s point guard Micaela Ellis last week. She averaged 16 points and six assists in three district games. In the championship game Friday, in a 60-53 win.

Dean Vettese, (wrestling): The Rochester wrestler finishes third place in the Division 1 140 pound weight class at the MHSAA individual wrestling finals. His provided one of the more memorable images of the tournament. Vettese had to have tape wrapped around his whole head, over his nose, to try and stop it from bleeding. The junior could barely breathe, but still went on to win a 5-0 decision.
