On the Agenda: Commissioners to Discuss Road Improvements, Communications Tower and Goals

The city commission met previously this month but scheduled a special meeting at 5:30 p.m. tonight in City Hall.

Bloomfield Hills city commissioners usually convene once a month and  met on July 12 to approved ballot language for a special library services millage. They scheduled a special meeting at 5:30 p.m. tonight at City Hall to catch up on regular business.

Several items are on the agenda, including phase 3 of the road improvement plan. The city is in the middle of a 10-year program to improve roads with more than $7 million collected through two bond sales, contributions from the city's water and sewer fund, and grants, documents show.

Commissioners will consider how to proceed with the next phase, to be completed between 2013 and 2015.

They will also discuss the possibility of erecting a communications tower on the Department of Public Works property. Both Oakland County and AT&T requested the tower to improve wireless communications in the area. The city currently receives coverage from Birmingham, Bloomfield Township, Pontiac and Troy, but it is below standard due to topography, documents state.
