Funeral for Slain Dearborn Heights Children is Friday
In a statement, Faith Harris-Green thanked "all who have contributed and expressed their love to the family."

DEARBORN HEIGHTS, MI — The mother of four Dearborn Heights children slain last week cancelled a scheduled public appearance Wednesday, a spokesman for the funeral home handlig the arrangements said, because she “is not up to addressing the media.”
Faith Harris-Green was only recently released from the hospital after sustaining severe injuries in the horrific attack on her family. Her husband, Gregory Green, is accused of murdering his young children and his older stepchildren, the latter two while their mother watched.
“She is not up to coming out today,” the spokesman at O.H. Pye III Funeral Home said before news cameras that had set up for a live feed of Harris-Green’s first public appearance since the horrific murders. “She had a really bad night, even worse morning.”

Gregory Vincente Green, 49 — an ex-con who served 16 years of an up to 25-year prison for the fatal 1991 stabbing his first wife, Tanya Green, who was six months pregnant at the time — is being held without bail on murder charges in the deaths of his children.

Police and prosecutors say his younger children, Koi, 5, and Kaleigh, 5, died of carbon monoxide poisoning, and the deaths of his stepchildren, Kara Allen, 17, and Chadney Allen, 19, were bound and shot multiple times. He also faces torture and assault charges in respect to Harris-Green, who was forced to watch as her older children were shot, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said.
The family issued a statement Tuesday through Harris-Green’s sister, Nikki Harris:
“Words cannot describe the horrific tragedy our family is experiencing over the untimely deaths of Chadney, Kara, Koi, and Kaleigh. We are devastated by this loss and at this time we are asking for privacy during this extremely difficult time.
“We are relieved to advise Faith Harris-Green is home and on the road toward recovery ... As a family – we don’t understand every experience we encounter in life, but we do know that all things work together for the good of those who love the Lord.”
Visitation for the children will be held from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the funeral home in Detroit, and the funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Detroit First Church of the Nazarene, 21260 Haggerty Road, Farmington Hills.
Ozie H. Pye IV, executive director at O.H. Pye III Funeral Home in Detroit, said last week he is donating the services.
“This was such a horrific event ... we had to do something. This is an entire generation that has been lost with this family,” Pye told the Detroit Free Press. “I've never seen anything like this before. We all were very taken aback. We wanted to do something for this family.”
Pye asked that people who want to help continue to donate to a GoFundMe campaign, which had been set up to help cover funeral expenses, to offset Harris-Green’s medical expenses. About $41,000 had been raised by Wednesday afternoon.
Police said he calmly called authorities early on the morning of Sept. 22 and told them he had harmed his family. In 1991 after Tanya Green was stabbed, he made a similar call, according to court records.
