‘You Are The Devil In Disguise’: Ex-Wife To Man Who Murdered Her 4 Children

Gregory Green, 50, will be 97 before he is eligible for parole for killing his children and stepchildren in Dearborn Heights.

DEARBORN HEIGHTS, MI — A Dearborn Heights man who murdered four members of his family last September will be 97 before he is eligible for parole under a sentence handed down Wednesday in Wayne County Circuit Court. Gregory Green, 50, was sentenced to 47 to 102 years in prison in the deaths of his children and stepchildren after pleading guilty last month to four counts of second-degree murder.

On Sept. 21, Green calmly called police and told them he had murdered his family, police have said. In his guilty plea last month, Green admitted to killing the children — Chadney Allen, 19; Kara Allen, 17; Koi Green, 5, and Kaleigh Green, 4 — and to torturing their mother Faith Harris-Green.

The older children were shot multiple times in front of their mother, and Green killed his and Harris-Green’s young daughters by carbon monoxide poisoning, according to police reports. Green bound Harris-Gree with tape and zip ties, shot her in the foot and slashed her face in the horrific rampage in the family’s home in the family’s Dearborn Heights home on the 4400 block of Hipp, police said.

In a statement to the court, Harris-Green asked Judge Dana Hathaway to sentence her ex-husband to life without parole, saying “there's a hole in my heart and soul that will never be repaired.”

“There’s no punishment that fits the crime … your justice will come when you burn in hell for all eternity,” she said, adding, “You are a con artist, you are a monster, you are a devil in disguise.”

Green also made a statement before sentencing. “Only God can judge me,” he said.

“Unfortunately, I took the lives of Kaleigh, Koi, Chadney (and) Kara,” he said. “I shot my ex-wife. I left my two girls in the car ... (which was filled with carbon monoxide). Kara and Chadney... I shot them.”

In addition the plea last month to the murder charges, Green also pleaded guilty to torture and assault to do great bodily harm in the attack on Harris-Green, and felony firearm. Per the agreement, the counts of unlawful imprisonment, felon in possession of a firearm and felonious assault were dismissed at Wednesday’s sentencing hearing.

The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement Wednesday that Green was sentenced to 45 years to 100 years in prison, plus plus two years consecutive for the felony firearm charge. The 50-year-old defendant will be required to serve the two-year felony firearm sentence and then 45 years for the other charges, making him 97 years old before he would be eligible for parole.
