56K Without Power In Metro Detroit After Overnight Storms

More showers and thunderstorms were expected to cross the metro Detroit area Thursday when temperatures climb into the 90s.

METRO DETROIT — More 56,000 DTE customers in the metro Detroit area were without power Thursday morning after multiple rounds of thunderstorms rolled through the region.

The largest outages were in Oakland County, particularly around the Farmington and Farmington Hills area, and the Milford area, according to the utility.

There were also large outages in Wayne County, especially in the area around Taylor and some downriver communities, such as Lincoln Park, according to the utility.

DTE Energy did not provide any restoration updates and warned residents to stay at least 25 feet away from downed power lines.

Drivers were not able to reach the McNamara Terminal at Detroit Metro Airport on Thursday morning due to overnight flooding from powerful thunderstorms, according to Wayne County Airport Authority officials.
