Detroit Radio Station Pulls Kanye West From Airwaves
The backlash comes after the rapper said this week that slavery was a "choice," sparking controversy.

DETROIT, MI — A Detroit hip-hop radio station has pulled Kanye West from the air after the rapper caused a stir earlier this week saying that slavery was a “choice.” 105.1 The Bounce, a throwback hip hop and R&B station, announced Thursday morning that they won't be playing his music anymore after the controversial statements.
"When you hear about slavery for 400 years ... For 400 years?” West said in the interview with TMZ. “That sounds like a choice."
Hosts BIGG and Shay Shay said they were making “a statement” by pulling his music. They also started the hashtag #MuteKanye.

“We feel like Kanye has gone too far with his latest statement declaring that ‘slavery was a choice.’ We are over it,” they said in a statement on Facebook. “We don’t want to hear Kanye’s music, we don’t want to play Kanye on our show, we don’t want to talk about Kanye anymore. So we are taking a stand and we aren’t playing his music anymore; we just are refusing to give him a platform.”
