Eminem Surprises Fans At His New Restaurant In Downtown Detroit

The first ten customers were greeted by Eminem​ as he served them take-out boxes of spaghetti from a window.

DETROIT — Eminem surprised fans Wednesday by serving them food from his new restaurant in Downtown Detroit.

The rapper's new restaurant, "Mom's Spaghetti" officially opened on Woodward Avenue in between the Fox Theatre and The Fillmore on Wednesday he tweeted. However, he didn't say he would be there in the tweet.

But the first ten customers were greeted by Eminem as he served them take-out boxes of spaghetti from a window.

One of the first people in line was Brendan Linden, who is from the Bronx, MLive reported.

"I came here in the hopes of meeting him. I didn’t think he was going to be here," Linden told MLive. "He shook my hand and I told him what he means to my life and how much his music has impacted me. He told me thank you so much and he gave me some food."

"This has been my dream my whole life," another fan told the Detroit News. She also said the rapper even signed her container.

Some people tweeted that customers stood in line since 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, although the official grand opening was scheduled for 5:00 p.m.

Mom's Spaghetti is a walk-up restaurant that only serves just a few items:

  • Mom’s Spaghetti for $9.
  • Mom’s Spaghetti with meatballs for $12.
  • S’ghetti Sandwich for $11.
  • Spaghetti with vegan balls for $14.
  • Pepsi product beverages and water are $3 each.

Eminem and his manager Paul Rosenberg partnered with Union Joints restaurant group to establish the permanent location.

Furthermore, Rosenberg said in a statement that the success of temporary pop-up spaghetti stands around led to the idea of permanently establish one in the City of Detroit.

"The previous pop-ups were really a test for us to determine whether there was enthusiasm for a regularly-occurring Mom’s Spaghetti spot that would be open all year long," Rosenberg said.
