Hannan Center to Host Free Health Fair in Midtown Detroit
Spring into Summer: Health Is Wealth is a family-friendly event offering health resources, free refreshments and photos, and a healthy cooki
Hannan Center will welcome residents from across Metro Detroit to its “Spring into Summer: Health Is Wealth” Health Fair on Saturday, June 6, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at its Midtown Detroit location, 4750 Woodward Ave.
The free, family-friendly event is designed to help older adults and their families embrace healthy living as summer begins. Presented in partnership with AmeriCorps and Hannan’s My Neighborhood Connections program, the event will feature health information, wellness resources and interactive activities focused on physical, emotional and social well-being.
Attendees can enjoy free refreshments while connecting with community organizations, health professionals and Hannan staff.

“At Hannan Center, we believe good health is the foundation for aging with dignity, independence and joy,” said Vincent Tilford, CEO of Hannan Center. “By bringing together health experts, resources and neighbors in one welcoming space, we hope to make it easier for older adults and their families to take that next step toward a healthier summer.”
One of the featured attractions will be a live cooking demonstration from registered dietitian and chef Doniss Hicks, president and owner of the Living4LifeWithDon food truck. Hicks will showcase nutritious, affordable meals geared toward families and older adults, with an emphasis on simple preparation and incorporating fresh seasonal ingredients into everyday cooking.

Guests will also be able to enjoy a complimentary photo booth experience with free photos to commemorate the day. Organizers said attendees will have opportunities to learn more about programs and services that support healthy and purposeful aging in Detroit.
Founded in 1925 by Luella Hannan, Hannan Center serves older adults throughout Detroit and across Michigan through social services, wellness initiatives, creative aging programs and lifelong learning opportunities. The nonprofit’s mission is to preserve dignity and enhance quality of life for seniors by fostering connection, empowerment and independence.
The “Spring into Summer: Health Is Wealth” Health Fair is free and open to the public.
