Mother's Day Brunch Brings Comfort and Community to Grace Centers of Hope Residents

Residents at Grace Centers of Hope Women's Center celebrated Mother's Day this year with a special home-style brunch, thanks to a partnership between the nonprofit and the Michigan Chinese Women's Association (MCWA).

The event brought together volunteers and residents for an afternoon centered on comfort food, connection, and honoring mothers. MCWA arranged for two visiting chefs from Taiwan to prepare traditional family-style dishes, along with bubble tea, for the women living at the center.

"We were very blessed to have two chefs from Taiwan volunteer with us," said Janny Lu, Commissioner of the Overseas Community Affairs Council. "They brought some of the most common family-style dishes from Taiwan to celebrate Mother's Day with all the residents at Grace Centers of Hope Women's Center."

"Moments like this remind our residents that they are cared for and not forgotten, especially on a day that can be difficult for so many of the women in our program," said Darin Weiss, CEO of Grace Centers of Hope.

Grace Centers of Hope is a Pontiac-based nonprofit dedicated to helping individuals and families overcome homelessness, addiction, and poverty. Through its residential recovery programs, transitional housing, and community support services, the organization works to provide those it serves with the tools, stability, and dignity needed to rebuild their lives.
