POST Detroit Heralds the Holidays with "Make & Take" Workshops
Work space and retail shop hosts December events with gift giving in mind; gift wrapping available to benefit Freedom House Detroit

POST Detroit, a gathering spot for the community that offers a unique retail shopping experience and events, is hosting a full line-up of hands-on workshops in December designed to get everyone into the holiday spirit. Located at 14500 Kercheval, one block east of Chalmers, POST workshops offer attendees the opportunity to get creative and have fun, while learning a contemporary craft – all in an open, festive atmosphere. They also get to “make & take” gifts to keep or give to someone special. Most workshops are open to ages 14+ and all supplies and materials are provided. No experience necessary and refreshments will be served.
Additionally, gift wrapping is available every Saturday in December through the 22nd, for a suggested donation of $5 per wrapped gift to benefit Freedom House Detroit, a temporary home for indigent survivors of persecution from around the world who are seeking asylum in the U.S. and Canada. POST is donating the gift wrap and supplies so that 100 percent of the money raised will go directly to the 35-year-old nonprofit.
Housed in a U.S. post office built in 1940, POST is an open concept retail store and workshop on Detroit’s east side. It carries a large variety of handmade goods from small, independent companies and artists that are curated by Clare Fox and Wayne Maki of Mutual Adoration, a woodworking and design business housed inside of POST and known for its custom furniture, picture frames and housewares, primarily from reclaimed wood. POST offers workshops and classes, in all aspects of contemporary craft, including screen printing, woodworking, jewelry making and hand lettering. Since its 2017 opening, POST become known as one of Detroit’s best places to shop small, whether for a gift or one’s home.
