Storms Likely Tuesday As Dangerous Heat And Humidity Moves Into Detroit Area

Multiple waves of rain and thunderstorms are possible across the Detroit area Tuesday as heat and humidity build in the region, according to the National Weather Service.
The storms could move into the region as early as noon and continue through 8 p.m. with heavy downpours, according to NWS.

More storms will cross the Detroit area on Wednesday when temperatures spike into the low 90s with heat indices touching 100 degrees in some areas, according to NWS.
Those storms are expected to move into the region during the nighttime hours and could bring heavy rainfall, large hail and damaging winds, according to NWS.

Highs will remain in the 90s on Thursday with triple-digit heat indices, producing another chance for severe thunderstorms during the evening and overnight hours, according to NWS.
Forecasters warned those storms could be even stronger with the potential to produce tornadoes, in addition to heavy downpours, large hail and damaging winds.
As of Tuesday morning, all of southeastern Michigan is under a slight risk for severe weather Thursday night.
Any lingering showers or storms should fade away by Friday morning, leading to a sunny day with highs in the 80s, according to NWS.
Saturday will also be sunny with highs in the 80s before another chance for rain on Sunday, according to NWS.
