Troy-Area Students Lend a Hand at Grace Centers of Hope
Students from three Oakland County high schools painted the nonprofit's new community garden fence as part of a hands-on service project
Grace Centers of Hope, a Pontiac-based nonprofit providing shelter, recovery programs, and support services to individuals and families overcoming homelessness and addiction, recently hosted a group of Troy-area high schoolers for a hands-on community service project.
Students from Troy High, Athens, and International Academy — all part of Oakland County's Career Accelerator Program (CAP), an extracurricular initiative connecting students with real-world community engagement — spent the day at Grace Centers of Hope. After learning about the organization's work, the students rolled up their sleeves and painted the nonprofit's newly installed community garden fence.
The volunteer initiative gave students a tangible way to connect with service while helping beautify a space used by residents.
