Dexter Village Council Appoints Citizens to Multiple Committees

Council members renewed appointments for candidates whose terms expire in 2012.

The Dexter Village Council unanimously approved the re-appointment of 10 members currently serving on the village's various committees on Tuesday.

Toni Henkemeyer will serve another three-year term on the Parks and Recreation Commission, which oversees the planning and development of the village's parks. Henkemeyer's term expires June 2015. The commission is seeking an additional village resident to fill a vacancy left by Steve Berlage. The term expires in 2015.

Don Darnell, Rich Bellas, and Tom Covert were all re-appointed to four-year terms on the Downtown Development Authority. The DDA is responsible for economic development and related projects within the designated downtown district. The terms expire June 2016.

Planning Commission Chairman Matt Kowalski and Mary Kimmel will remain with the commission through June 2015. The nine-member board is responsible for advising the village council with regard to the proper development of the Village of Dexter. It is also responsible for the Capital Improvement Plan. The Planning Commission is looking to fill a vacancy due to the resignation of Kim Clugston.

Cindy Henes and Jeff Peters were appointed to a three-year term on the Tree Board. Lynn Babcock and Courtney Fitzpatrick were also re-appointed to the Arts, Culture and Heritage Committee.

To apply for open positions on the Planning Commission, Parks and Recreation Commission, or Arts, Culture & Heritage Committee, contact the village offices at 734-426-8303. Recommendations for appointments are made by the village president and affirmed by the village council.
