The Dexter Village Council unanimously approved a building lease agreement with Ann Arbor residents Krystyna and Bart Aniolczyk on Monday. The Aniolczyks are working with Hazel's owner Denise Livingston, who announced her intention to retire earlier this year, to finalize the purchase of her business. The transaction is expected to include the business name, recipes and equipment. The building, located at 8050 Main St., is owned by the village.
Krystyna Aniolczyk worked for Amadeus restaurant in Ann Arbor, which specializes in Eastern Europe cuisine, for more than 20 years.

While the Aniolczyks plan to keep Hazel's menu the same, they would like to introduce some of their Polish specials as well.
Once the Aniolczyks purchase the business, Krystyna will take charge of the kitchen while her son, Bart, will run the financial operations.

Krystyna said a family-run venture is nothing new for her family.
"My mother was the engine behind Amadeus," she said. "I want to keep it that way, with family."
Although the Aniolczyks are from Ann Arbor, they have visited friends in Dexter many times and like the town.
"We really like it here," Krystyna said. "It has a great atmosphere."
The Aniolczyks expect to take fulll ownership of Hazel's in September.
