'Aladdin Jr.' Cast Prepares for Opening Night
Two casts will perform in the Farmington Hills Youth Theatre production, which opens Thursday.
After almost two months of rehearsals, the gold cast of Disney's Aladdin Jr. gathered on Wednesday night for one of its final practices.
Two casts of 140 actors and actresses – most of them 3rd through 12th graders – will perform Thursday through Sunday at the in Farmington Hills.
The musical is presented by Youth Theatre program and is produced by Sky's the Limit Productions.

Sky's the Limit creative director and co-director of Aladdin Jr. Lisa Muscio says the theater program plays in important role in the community.
"We're not out to make stars here," Muscio said. "We're out for well-rounded kids who have the opportunity to explore different roles and different areas of theater."

Jordan Sheatzley, a sophomore whose mother co-directs the musical, is one of three student assistants. She and fellow assistant Rachel Hollander choreographed a dance number that opens act two.
"I've been doing this since I was little, and I always used to look up to the older kids," Sheatzley said. "Now I get to help behind the scenes and be that person."
Aladdin Jr. will be performed Thursday and Friday, Nov. 17 and 18, at 7 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 19 and 20, 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Tickets cost $10 per person; children 3 and under free. For information, call 1-877-STL-PROD.
