Farmington Central High School’s Denise Cadwell earns the 2013 MAEO Outstanding Service Award

Farmington, Michigan—Denise Cadwell, Farmington Central High School, was recently was awarded the 2013 Outstanding Service Award. This award is given from time to time to someone who deeply deserves special recognition. Denise is not only an educator, but a Michigan Alternative Education Organization (MAEO) board member. Denise donates countless hours of her time and talent to the MAEO. 

MAEO provides services and networking opportunities for alternative educators across the state. The group hosts an annual spring conference, as well as regional activities for students and alternative educators around the state. They also sponsor scholarships for graduating alternative education students pursuing higher education, and regional grants that promote student activities. 

Her nomination states: “Denise is a quiet force who gets things done. Fellow members fear that she may someday wear herself out, because it would take three people to replace her.”

Denise Cadwell has been teaching at Farmington Central High School for 18 years. She teaches business, runs the school store, coaches the bowling and softball teams, serves as president of the union and is a lead teacher on the District’s evaluation team.  Denise is also the coordinator at Farmington Central High School for he school’s student leadership program - MAEO STARS, and the teacher who gets the students to the events and trains the students for the MAEO spring competition.

Denise has organized the MAEO Spring Conference for several years, she has negotiated with different sites to lower the cost of the conference and works hard behind the scenes during the conference to make sure it is a success. Denise works tirelessly and is truly deserving of this award.
