Hockey has Heart was formed as a way to help others in the hockey community at large at any level of the sport; house, travel, high school, adult, college and professional. It is a way for all of us associated with the sport to give back to the hockey community in time of need.
When a catastrophe hits one of our “family members” our goal is to help in whatever way we can. Financial assistance is only one way Hockey has Heart can help. We work to develop a network of professionals who have ties to the hockey community that can quickly be deployed to a family in time of need.

With a strong volunteer base, we can continue to expand the services Hockey has Heart through our annual benefit. Over 95% of the funds we raise are directed back to the hockey community. All work is done by volunteers and generous corporate assistance helps to cover our operating expenses.
Hockey has Heart is a 501(c) non-profit helping Michigan hockey families in need since 2002.

TESTIMONIALS
Terry Gould
In 2002, father of five children, Terry Gould, was on the national transplant registry waiting for a new heart. His fight became well known and the Michigan hockey community overwhelmingly responded with donations and prizes. In early 2003 an event was held for the Gould Family and later that spring Terry received his much needed heart as the first benefactor of HHH. Terry and his wife, Patrice, live in Plymouth and continue to enjoy life and their newly expanding family, now with six grandchildren and one on the way. Terry joined the HHH Board soon after he recovered and is living proof of the power of prayer and community.
Shane Dwyer
Jenny Lambright was introduced to HHH when her brother, Shane Dwyer, was paralyzed due to a snowboarding injury in December of 2014. Jenny and her family partnered with HHH to host a very successful auction fundraiser for Shane at Orchard Lake St. Mary’s, where Shane played hockey throughout high school.
“After Shane’s snowboarding injury, we didn’t know where to turn. In the midst of so much to deal with in our “new life experience”, one of the many friends reaching out to us turned us onto Hockey Has Heart. Right from our initial introduction, there was swiftness and professional handling to provide us vast encouragement and support. They facilitated donations coming in within a very short time, and they were instrumental in assisting with preparations of our fund raising event that came together in less than two months! HHH reached out to their large network and numerous volunteers appeared from all over to help with our enormous evening event. Partnering with a non-profit, such as Hockey has Heart, played a crucial role in the magnitude of our fundraising event’s success. The dependable, cooperative, amenable and kind spirit provided by their leadership was instrumental in holding us up in a time of tremendous struggle. We will always remember what HHH did for us and be supportive to them in all we can.” The Dwyer Family, Farmington Hills (See photo).
Matt Sorishio
“Hockey Has Heart is a wonderful charitable organization that is run by very extraordinary people. Our son, Matthew, had a life altering hockey accident nearly two years ago, which left him a paraplegic. Hockey Has Heart immediately became involved in organizing a fundraiser for Matthew to help him with the injury that has changed the course of his life. The incredible people involved with Hockey Has Heart remain involved with our family as they facilitate donations made to Matthew. In addition, they are always available for support and advice. We are truly grateful to the caring people at Hockey Has Heart.” The Sorisho Family, Novi
