District leaders say the alleged theft, discovered after financial anomalies surfaced, has not disrupted current services, and that the former liaison has retired and is the only person under investigation.

2. Historic Farmington Civic Theatre committed to bringing back moviegoers (cbsnews.com) — Farmington's historic Civic Theatre in downtown is still struggling to rebuild its audience years after COVID, even with city financial support keeping it afloat. Management is adding a bar, new seats, and more private events to draw moviegoers back. Residents are encouraged to visit for a film and spread the word to keep this local landmark thriving.

3. Dolly Parton celebrated with 'Steel Magnolias' screenings at two area theaters (bluewaterhealthyliving.com) — Farmington moviegoers can honor Dolly Parton at the Farmington Civic Theater with a special $5 screening of "Steel Magnolias" on Sept. 3. The tribute, also happening at Detroit's Redford Theatre, celebrates Parton's beloved film work following her death at age 80.

4. Legally blind West Bloomfield man pushes township to better maintain safety paths (wxyz.com) — A legally blind West Bloomfield resident is pushing the township to better trim trees and clear debris along safety paths on Maple, Orchard Lake, 14 Mile, and Farmington roads—routes many Farmington-area walkers and cyclists also use. He says overgrown branches are dangerous, especially for people with disabilities, and wants more frequent maintenance than the current twice-yearly schedule. Township officials say they'll recheck his route and urge residents to report hazards.
