Learn about spring allergies at 'Walk with a Doc' April 21

Free, community event

Beaumont Hospital, Farmington Hills welcomes all to attend its "Walk with a Doc" program from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 21. A physician leads this free, community event, which emphasizes exercise and provides health tips. Spring means the start of seasonal allergy season. Allergist and immunologist Annie Arrey-Mensah, M.D., will speak about the causes, diagnosis, treatment, triggers and management of spring allergies.

"It's nearly impossible to completely avoid spring allergies since the main cause is from the many trees that grow here in Michigan," said Dr. Arrey-Mensah. "People can minimize their allergy symptoms through medications and taking precautions, such as keeping doors and windows closed when pollen levels are high."

The program will be held at the Heritage Park Nature Center in Farmington Hills. The park is on the west side of Farmington Road between 10 and 11 Mile Roads. The event will be held rain or shine. For more information, call Caroline Schairer, Walk with a Doc coordinator, Beaumont Hospital, Farmington Hills at 248-442-1661.
