Neighborhood Shop: Clothes Encounters Offers Styles from Around the World

If you’ve been downtown Farmington, you most likely have seen or been to .

Part of the Farmington community for more than 24 years, the store is a fixture in the downtown area. Their large display window on Grand River features the latest trends in women’s clothing.

Owner Larry Sallen said the store caters to women ages 20 and older. You won't find anything "boring" on the racks, he said. Clothes Encounters features high end, fun clothing – from sweaters and dresses to suits and evening gowns.

Sallen said selective women can find something to suit their tastes and needs, in sizes from small to plus-size 2X.

“If you care about the way you look, and you’re not too serious, then we’re the place for you,” Sallen said.

Sallen said he travels all over the world in search of the unique and unusual. Shipments arrive three times weekly. 

Clothes Encounters' out-of-the-ordinary fashions, combined with a friendly customer base and community orientation, set the store apart.
