The Breastfeeding Clinic at Beaumont Hospital – Farmington Hills, formerly Botsford Hospital, offers support to new mothers in need of assistance nursing their babies. The clinic hosts a comprehensive three-hour course to help expectant parents get the breast-feeding process off to a strong start. It covers the advantages and benefits of breast-feeding, physiology of milk production, basic nursing positions, assessing latch-on, back-to-work issues, how to determine if your baby is getting enough milk, common problems, and pumping and storing breast milk. Various products and supplies, including electric breast pumps are also covered. The course runs 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Nov. 9. Cost: $35.
