SEA LIFE Michigan Day-in-the Life of an Aquarist Sweepstakes

One lucky student interested in marine biology will get to spend a day job shadowing at the aquarium

SEA LIFE Michigan is offering local students—aged 6 to 16 with an interest in marine biology—the chance to spend a day job shadowing the aquarium’s curator, Kelli Cadenas. The selected student will participate in feedings, water testing, caring for creatures and learning about the role of an aquarist and how to pursue a science-based career.

“Our aquarist team is unbelievably passionate about the work that we do here at SEA LIFE Michigan; not only do we get to take care of amazing creatures, we also play an important role in worldwide conservation and breeding efforts and conduct scientific research,” said Kelli Cadenas. “We can’t wait to show the behind-the-scenes world of SEA LIFE aquarists to a local student, and hope that we will help inspire him/her to pursue their passion in marine biology.”

To enter, students need to draft a brief essay (50-100 words) about what this opportunity would mean to them and then submit it through SEA LIFE Michigan’s Facebook page (or ask their parent/guardian to submit on their behalf if under 13 years of age). The sweepstakes will run for two weeks, at which time a winner will be randomly selected from the entries and the shadow day will be coordinated with the student and their parent/guardian. In addition to the job shadowing opportunity, the winner will receive a four pack of tickets and behind-the-scenes tours.
