United Farmington Figure Skaters Dominate District Competition

Members of the United Farmington high school figure skating team are headed to state finals in Ann Arbor next month after dominating the district competition Wednesday at the .

The team is divided into three levels -- "A," "B" and "C." The "A" team placed second behind Northville with 22 points, the "B" took first place with 24 points and the "C" team tied for second with 18 points.

Those scores, combined with their scores from the other two competitions this season, had all three levels qualifying for the state competition in March.

The top three teams in each level of each district qualify for states each year. The United Farmington "A" tied for first overall with Northville, the "B" team took first overall this season and the "C" team took second place.

"I'm very excited," said United Farmington coach Susan Moran. "This is the fourth district win in a row for the 'B' team. They skated very well."

"We have a very good team and a lot of hard-working skaters," she said.

The state competition will be held March 26 and 27 at the Ice Cube Arena in Ann Arbor.
