Babycakes Cafe Adds Hershey's Ice Cream to Sweets Selection

Just in time for summer, is adding to its array of sweet treats by offering 16 flavors of that warm weather favorite: ice cream.  

The store, which already offers gourmet cupcakes from Rockin’ Cupcakes Rochester and sweets of all sorts from Buccilli’s Cake Shop in Almont, will now offer Hershey’s Ice Cream as well.

“We are excited to add ice cream to our store as there isn’t an ice cream store within walking distance to our surrounding demographic,” said owner Pamela Ferguson. "That's what I hear most when people come in, they're just so glad to have an ice cream shop in the area."

Of the 16 flavors, many are gluten free, while two are sugar free and reduced fat.

Customers can currently enjoy their favorite flavor in a cup, cone or sundae, but Ferguson promises that shakes, hurricanes (similar to 's blizzard) and blend-java drinks will be available soon.

For those with extreme sweet tooths, Ferguson has created the cupcake sundae.

"You can choose any flavor cupcake (all are iced), any flavor ice cream and one topping that's included in the price," she said. "Some places sell ice cream, others sell cupcakes, but I don't know anyone who offers the combo. What's better than cake and ice cream?"

So what's next for this neighborhood bake shop?

"A woman came in the other day and said I should add a counter and stools and make this into an old-fashioned soda fountain," Ferguson said. "I told her, 'Bring more customers in and we'll knock through that wall and expand next store.'"

She was joking ... for the most part.

Babycakes is located in the shopping center across from at 23 Mile and Romeo Plank. The store is currently open until 9 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, but will extend its closing time by one hour for the summer months.

Students who show their most recent report card–with three or more A's–receive a free single scoop cone or cup.
